Ramadan Karim and visit of Dr. Ramzi Hajjar

It has been quite a while that we wrote on our blog…We hope you all had a restful summer.

First we want to wish a Ramadan Karim to our members…and all concerned, reading this.

We started again with our elderly and on Tuesday 23 Dr. Ramzi Hajjar, geriatrist and actually living in the States will honour us with his visit to our senior citizens on both Tuesday 23 and Monday 29 September. He will give 2 talks. We will be back to you later about that.

Mr. and Mrs. Maged El Hoss will host an Iftar at Ayadina this coming Monday. You are all most welcome. The expected number of beneficiaries to attend is 50.

Feast of grandparents

It has become a yearly tradition: Ayn ou Zayn Association yearly invites about 12 elderly to celebrate together with other Associations and NGOs the feast of grandma and grandpa, and this in the beautiful Chouf. As usual our senior citizens enjoyed their afternoon yesterday June 29, and the whole atmosphere of joy and sharing. Thank you Ayn ou Zayn :)

End of Year Performance

It all started this last Saturday, June 21, with an exhibition of children’s drawings @ Ayadina at 3.30. Mrs. Jamila Ata was present to welcome the parents of her students and of any student desiring to see the drawings.

We then all went to the Rosary school in Nabaa, where Sr. Sylvestre Al Alam, welcomed us and was so kind to let us use their stage and theatre.

We started with the national hymn, played by one of the piano students taught by Mrs. Katty Nakhlé

Mrs. Maya Najjar, Ayadina’s president, welcomed all the parents, children and friends and thanked all those who helped making this performance a success.

We then had several performances:

Piano students

Choir and drama:      Choir conducted by Ms. Joelle Bou Ghazale and drama by Ms. Layal Ghanem.

The 3 ballet classes from little ones to somehow bigger ones. They started this year with Mrs. Salwa El Khatib and then continued with Ms. Zeina Nahhas:

Joelle animated and linked the different performances:  here you see the Salsa class, taught by Ms. Rachel Mitri.

Thank you Rosary sisters for granting us your theatre.

Thank you teachers, you made a wonderful event, thank you volunteers, we can always count on you: Dona, Mona, George, Ihsan and Fadia.

Apologies

We would like to apologize to the participants of the “Ayadina fundraising cultural trip to Smar-Jbeil” for the inconvenience caused by transportation due to the size of the buses. The first part of the trip was very uncomfortable and we coudn’t reach the churches because the road was too narrow. for that reason half the group went back to Beirut after lunch and was not able to enjoy the second part of the excursion which was very  succesful.

The lunch at “Chez Zakhia” was extremely pleasant. The atmosphere was very jovial and the food was excellent.

Wheelchair

Thank you Ms. Zeina Nahhas for donating a wheelchair to one of our senior citizens. Abu Jean never leaves his home except when Ayadina Association takes him on an outing. He therefore was so happy with the new wheelchair, because his old one can not be bent anymore.

Chez Zakhia

Yesterday was not just an ordinary day. It was THE day for our senior citizens. they went in buses to Amchit CHEZ ZAKHIA, the famous fish restaurant. Thank you Dr. and Mrs. Mohammad Zeidan, for giving this opportunity to our elderly. They enjoyed it so much, the view, the food, the outing all together.

Dr. and Mrs. Mohammad Zeidan answered the following:

Our gratitude goes out to you and the whole Ayadina team for organizing this and other precious events. It is thanks to Ayadina that our society can rediscover the true meaning of solidarity and fraternity. Thank you very much for your organization, time, and efforts and we hope that you continue with your noble mission. We feel honored to be considered members of the Ayadina family.

Best regards,

Nelly and Mohamad

IC Community service

Today about 15 students of IC came to Ayadina to offer some community service hours. They made pasta for the elderly present and some tried to entertain them with games.

Hot meal

Yesterday 50 of our senior citizens went to the social club of Adonis. They were served a real hot meal and 2 singers were animating the whole event. Another group of elderly was also present and so there was some interaction between the aged. Thank you Mrs. Randa Theodory, Mrs. Charlotte Breidy and ladies.
